The Friday and Saturday of 19th and 20th April 2019 will live for a very long time in the memories of all of us who were involved with Bashing the Beds Boundary in the fight against Motor Neurone Disease.
Seven teams started at 10.00 a.m. on Good Friday and took on the complete boundary relay and all came home by 10.00 a.m. on the Saturday, so within the twenty-four hours hoped for!
An hour later around eighty-five more people joined many of The Bounders for a further final five mile run.
The weather was glorious and everyone at Picts Hill House enjoyed a BBQ and were entertained by our very own Bashing Band, Flaky Jake.
We were all inspired to take on the challenge by Debbie Burrells and as a result at least £65,000 has been raised and is being donated to The Motor Neurone Disease Association.
We are sad to report that Debbie lost her struggle with MND on Thursday 23rd May but not before she had her last wish granted and presented the cheque to MNDA on the very same day.
Debbie fought the bravest battle against the cruellest of diseases and did so with amazing dignity never once complaining about her condition and only ever worrying about her family and friends who would be left behind.
Debbie will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her and has left behind her the most amazing legacy having raised both awareness and a considerable amount of money. A truly inspirational lady.
Donations to MNDA can still be made in Debbie’s memory, just click the link HERE.
